And we are live again! Welcome to the new KOL Blogging WordPress Blog!
Finally, KOL is migrated to WordPress and is now back and running. It’s been a whole week of work, nightly 2am sleeps, and definitely excitement about the relaunch of KOL blogging. Blogger has definitely served me well, but it’s time to move on. Because I’ve gotten too serious about my blogging that I had to just go all the way to actually owning my blog and having full control over it. And the best way to do that is to transfer to a self hosted blog.
If you don’t already know, I’ve migrated KOL Blogging from Blogger to a self hosted blog on WordPress with Bluehost. I’ve had the help of Dana’s post from The Wonder Forest, and it ran so smoothly. I’ve got to remind myself to thank her for this.
I am just so excited about this and I know there are more things that needs to be updated, edited, or changed on KOL Blogging but it has been a while and I do not want to take much longer in trying to be perfect because perfection can never be achieved, but success is doable even with imperfections.
What can I say, I am a now or never kind of girl.
There are so many things I want to share with you about transitioning from Blogger to WordPress but I’m afraid I won’t be to squeeze all that into just one post. So I might write all my learnings and experiences in separate posts. What I want to share with you today is the feeling I’ve been getting when I decided to just do it and go for the big change.
Fear Of Not Being Able To Afford It
The very first and most dominant of all my emotions is probably the fear of not being able to afford it. I know it may be cheap for some people, and to be honest, for a 3 year plan from Bluehost that’s only less than $300, it is affordable. But recently, I bought a house so my expenses just went up that much and an additional expense for hosting my blog is a little worrisome. It is actually the reason why I haven’t been able to switch from a free hosted blog to a self-hosted one for over a year. But a week ago, I don’t know what came over me. I just decided to do the switch. I had some money saved in my savings account, so without touching any of my investments, I took about $300 from that and clicked the purchase button without even a single thought of not doing it. I just did it! And I’m so happy about it. Hopefully, for the next three years, I’ll be able to make up for that amount of money I spent for hosting to be able to renew KOL Blogging.
Worried About Not Being Able To Adapt To The Changes
I’ve been using Blogger for over 2 years now, and I’ve gotten so used to it that I’m afraid of any changes on the dashboard, the user interface, the html coding, or anything that goes on around it that makes my blogs work. It’s really worrisome because I’m the type of blogger that loves to take control over everything on my blog, including the template or the theme, and I’ve got to tell you, Blogger is an easy breezy platform to use. WordPress on the other hand is much more complicated but there are so many tools available on WordPress. I never imagined this but I am so pumped about the many things I need to learn about. Really, Blogger has so many limitations that Wrodpress trumps it. Still, I won’t take back my word when I said that Blogger is the best platform for a free hosted blog.
Excited About The Launch That I’ve Had A Whole Week Of Sleepless Nights
I’ve started the change Monday last week, and I’ve relaunch KOL Blogging Monday (today) this week. So it has been a whole week since I made the change. And I’ve got to tell you that it was a lot of work. It took me a while to look for a theme that was nearest my old Blogger theme as possible because I don’t want to do that much changes on the branding, and finally I was able to find one. With a lot of updating, I’ve finally got the look of my blog that I’ve wanted. Well, almost. I guess that’s what actually took me to sleeping at 2am every night, plus of course due to the excitement that I can’t wait to just release it to the public. It also took me a day to update my blog posts to make them look readable on my WordPress theme, though I’m not yet done with all the updates, it’ll have to do for now. It also took me another day to update all my static pages and landing pages. I can’t seem to figure out what codes I need to edit and change to remove some elements on my static pages, but again these will do for now. There are so much more I had to do but I won’t list them all here. I just wanted to share how much I’m so tired yet my eyes are wide open because of this. #lovingit!
Hoping So Much For The Better Improvement
One of the main reasons why I changed to WordPress is not just because I want to own my blog, but I want to improve it in a much faster rate. Blogging on Blogger is really a slow growth. I did see a lot of improvement but it wasn’t enough and I needed a better platform. So I’m hoping that WordPress can help me with that. I have to admit that I’m a little worried about making this mistake of making the switch. Moving back to Blogger may no longer be an option and KOL Blogging might just die out. Noooo! But I won’t let that happen. Just because I’ve moved to WordPress does not mean I can just sit around and wait for the miracle to happen. So wish me luck because I’m going full throttle on this.
So I hope you guys are loving the new KOL Blogging, I know I am. And there will be loads more exciting news and change to come. So be sure to stay tuned.
I’m also planning on migrating Start With A Peso to WordPress to watch out for that. And guess what, I’m planning to launch my travel, food, and entertainment blog. I’m still on the process of choosing the name so it might take a while, but it will be coming out soon.
Would love to know what you think of the new blog. Let me know by leaving a comment below.
